‘The roof is on fire’ Why is this a thing, in parlance and in song? I tried googling “which part of a house burns first” but only got first aid tips (I guess that means the people burn first?…but, inconclusive.) “are roofs more prone to fire than other parts of a house” but got tips on fire prevention. “relative flammability of different parts of a house” mostly gives owner’s documentation for eg mattresses, I guess people must be interested in whether their mattress will catch on fire (or what to do if/when it does) Before I get cited for plotting arson via my ISP reporting me, I’m going to stop for now… Any ideas, Tumblrs?

In a seminar this semester we played a “game” based loosely on economic disparity and the problems it creates.
Three symbols were given to the economic classes in the game. Players were assigned a symbol based on which tier of points they fell into at the conclusion of trading (highest, middle, lowest).
One of the symbols used in the game was a pink triangle. An interesting choice in a game that is supposed to teach us about, presumably, corruption, power, and privilege in unbalanced systems. The organizers were seemingly unaware that this symbol had been used to mark men for persecution (‘cleansing’) during WWII.
This cat is money.
